Foodie Biz serves two purposes:
1) Share restaurant news and reviews across Southern California, along with some destination pieces to keep things interesting. 2) Educate hospitality professionals and avid fans on industry news, trends and best practices. Author Benjamin Brown is a restaurant writer and hospitality consultant with an absolute passion for good food and timeless experiences. His ventures and enormous appetite span across restaurants of all types, leading to spectacular finds for all crowds and palates. In addition to reviewing more than 300 restaurants and meeting nearly all the big names in the culinary world, Ben also brings a business background that has helped spots across town boost their marketing presence and raise their bottom line. Ben has worked with Fortune 500 companies and hospitality giants such as MGM Resorts International and Carnival Corporation, all the way down to local mom-and-pop shops. His contributions include Brand Building, Digital Marketing, Pricing Strategy and Revenue Management, Labor Optimization and Company Culture Advancement among others.
Ben earned his MBA from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business, graduating with a Certificate in Marketing and a focus in analytics. He also has a Master's of Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which he received while serving with the Teach for America Program. He completed his undergraduate degree at USC's Annenberg School of Journalism. Ben also serves as Restaurant Editor for SoCal Food & Beverage Professional Magazine, as well as contributes to The Las Vegas Food & Beverage Professional. His column, 'The Bottom Line,' is published monthly in addition to his SoCal restaurant spotlight. Previously, Ben contributed to Examiner.com, where he was consistently ranked one of the top restaurant Examiners in the nation.
